Lindsay Animal Control Division Overview

The City of Lindsay provides full animal control field enforcement activities and kenneling services for the cities of Lindsay and Porterville.

The Animal Control Division employs two officers and one supervisor. One officer covers the City of Porterville on a daily basis and one covers the City of Lindsay, and also works in the Kennels. The supervisor remains at the facility to relay incoming traffic and oversee daily operations.

The kennel facility consists of 110 kennels segregated into an adoption wing, rabies control area, a clinic, and stray holding area. The facility is also landscaped with grass, trees, shrubs, and a large variety of flowers, to make it as pleasant for citizens as possible.

The mission of the Lindsay Animal Control Division is two fold. First, we are committed to fulfilling our contracts with the City of Porterville and meeting the objectives established by them. And second, we are committed to providing a safe, sanitary and humane environment for the animals which come into our possession and finding suitable homes for as many stray/stranded dogs as possible. The Lindsay Kennels is also committed to controlling pet population through public education.

Other services provided to the public by the Animal Control Division are rabies clinics during the summer months and adoption clinics. A regular log is kept with information for lost, found, and wanted animals. Lindsay Animal Control provides public education to the schools within the county. Presentations consist of educating children to be responsible pet owners as well as promoting spaying and neutering to control pet overpopulation. We also set up public adoptions in surrounding communities to help find homes for unwanted pets.

If you have any questions regarding these activities, you can contact Lindsay Animal Control between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at (559) 562-6577. Contact person is Kennel Master Wendy Jones.
