Community Services Officer
The Lindsay Department of Public Safety employs a full time community services officer who performs a variety of routine and complex assignments and
enforcement of adopted municipal codes and related rules and regulations.
The officer periodically patrols or inspects an assigned area to monitor for violations of municipal codes and responds to complaints of potential code
violations relating to the erection of signs, residential overcrowding, and conditions, hazardous sidewalks, construction, land use, animal zoning, noise complaints,
illegal dumping, etc.
The officer also meets with landlords, tenants, property owners, contractors, developers and businesses to review and explain code enforcement and violations and
secures code compliance.
During the regular course of employment, the officer will draft and distribute a variety of correspondence, memorandums, notices, flyers, brochures, media releases,
and reports relating to code enforcement issues and actions. The officer also issues citations on a case by case basis and if needed, will prepare reports and other
related issues in preparation for court testimony.
Community Services is an extension of the "Quality of Life Program" that promotes a better living environment and business climate, encouraging the community to get
