Lindsay Reserve Police Officers Unit

The Lindsay Department of Public Safety is very proud of its Lindsay Reserve Police Officers Unit. The Lindsay Reserve Police Officers Unit is an active unit of the Lindsay Department of Public Safety and contributes to all operations within the Lindsay Department of Public Safety.

The Chief of Police has approved twelve positions for the Lindsay Reserve Police Officers Unit.

All Lindsay Reserve Police Officers must successfully pass an oral board selection panel. Also, Lindsay Reserve Police Officers must successfully pass a background investigation. Once the Lindsay Reserve Police Officer has successfully completed the background investigation, the officer will complete a written and oral psychological evaluation. Should the officer successfully complete the psychological evaluation, the officer will complete the medical examination in order to be appointed.

The Lindsay Reserve Police Officer will then complete a one week orientation program. The officer will be assigned a primary Field Training Officer and start his field training program. The Lindsay Reserve Police Officer will complete the same field training program as the full time police officer. When the officer has complete the field training program, the officer will go before an Field Training Officers' Oral Board. Once the officer successfully passes the Field Training Officers Oral Board evaluation, the Lindsay Reserve Police Officer Level I will perform as a solo officer.

The Lindsay Reserve Police Officer Unit is a highly active unit. Reserve Police officers help with shift coverage on all watches and handle all special details. Details range from shift coverage, burglary sting operations, ABC sting operations, DUI checkpoints, seat belt checkpoints, and community functions. The Lindsay Reserve Police Officers' Association is responsible for organizing Santa Claus night every December in which under-privileged children are given a chance to meet Santa Claus and receive a small gift.

The majority of the Lindsay Reserve Police Officers have gone into law enforcement on a full time basis with the Lindsay Department of Public Safety or other law enforcement agencies in the state.
